Pasture Blends
Hickseeds strive to provide the highest quality blends to support superior growth in the paddock. We have a wide range of blends available to suit varied soil types and farm needs.

Hickseeds Multipurpose Blend is a selection of highly persistent ryegrass complemented with a selection of clovers for a general pasture blend. Silver Bullet, a late heading tetraploid ryegrass, grows strong when moisture is available, whilst the early heading dates of both Victorian and Tactic Perennial Ryegrasses allows for substantial seed set. This contributes to the persistence of the pasture as plants can be recruited from seed, maintaining pasture density. The addition of clovers increases the protein value of the feed, while also adding nitrogen into the soil. The mix of Sub, Balansa, White and Red Clovers allows for a strong base of clover throughout the year when moisture is available. All clovers, apart from sub clover, are coated and inoculated for early insect protection and maximum nitrogen fixation.
Best suited to: | Low to moderate fertility. Moderate rainfall. Beef or Sheep |

The addition of clovers increases the protein value of the feed, while also adding nitrogen into the soil. Clovers, excluding Sub Clover, are coated and inoculated for early insect protection and maximum nitrogen fixation. Cocksfoot is a deep-rooted perennial grass ideal for dry or sandy soils. Beverly has high forage yields, good disease resistance and excellent feed quality.

This blend of Italian Ryegrass is specifically designed for maximum growth, persisting for 18-24 months. The Italians blend has very high energy levels and low aftermath heading, making it ideal for silage and hay production. The lack of endophyte makes it ideal for grazing by all classes of livestock. This blend establishes rapidly with high quality, leafy growth and excellent recovery from grazing. Italians demonstrates very strong growth through autumn, winter and spring; increasing the competition against weeds. The ratio of tetraploid to diploid varieties in this blend creates a very dense canopy, not only increasing dry matter production, but further preventing weed invasion. The aggressive growth habit of varieties in this blend make it ideal for over-sowing into existing pasture to boost silage paddocks or extend the life of paddocks prior to renovation. *This blend is also available with Clovers

Perennial Endophyte Blend. The Supreme Dairy Blend only contains perennial ryegrass varieties which are protected with the “NEA” family of novel endophytes. This provides the plant with resistance to some insect pests such as African black beetle, Root Aphid and Argentine Stem Weevil. Novel endophytes also help to increase livestock production by increasing palatability, reducing staggers and heat stress commonly associated with standard endophyte. Supreme Dairy Blend is a unique combination of 60% late maturing tetraploid ryegrass and 40% late maturing diploid ryegrass. Palatability and increased production are the most important advantages to tetraploid over diploid varieties in a high fertility system. However, tetraploids planted alone can be vulnerable to close grazing, causing crown damage which will affect stand life. This can then result in loss of production. The inclusion of a high producing diploid variety in this blend reduces the risk of overgrazing. The market leading varieties in this blend will help you to achieve maximum animal performance in an intensive grazing system.
Best suited to: | High rainfall and fertility. Dairy, live weight gain in beef and lambs |

This provides the plant with resistance to some insect pests such as African Black Beetle, Root Aphid and Argentine Stem Weevil. Novel endophytes also help to increase livestock production by increasing palatability, reducing staggers and heat stress commonly associated with standard endophyte. The addition of clovers increases the protein value of the feed, while also adding nitrogen into the soil. All clovers are coated and inoculated for early insect protection and maximum nitrogen fixation. Red Clover is great addition to this blend due to its high production throughout spring and summer.
